Jeremiah 5:

God only needed one person to execute judgment and seek the truth to turn Jerusalem around to be pardoned.
(Jer 5:1) Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

The Lord’s eyes are upon the truth and these people were swearing that they were the LORD’s but it was false.

(Jer 5:3) O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

They did not know the way of the LORD nor the judgment of their God.

They do not know the way of the LORD nor the judgment of their God.

(Jer 5:4) Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

Def: belied

H3584 כָּחַשׁ kachash (kaw-khash’) v.

1. to be untrue, in word (to lie, feign, disown) or deed (to disappoint, fail, cringe)

[a primitive root]

Strong’s #3584: AHLB#2257 (V)

2257) Shk% (Shk% KHhSh) ac: Deny co: ? ab: ?: A withholding or denial of something such as food resulting in leanness and truth through a lie.

V) Shk% (Shk% K-HhSh) — Deny: To withhold something from another or self as in a lie or submission. [freq. 22] (vf: Paal, Niphal, Hitpael, Piel) |kjv: lie, submit, deny, fail, dissemble, liar, deceive| {H3584}

Nm) Shk% (Shk% K-HhSh) — I. Lie: A denial of the truth. II. Leanness: A denial of food. [freq. 7] |kjv: lying, lies, leanness| {H3585, H3586}

The people are so deceived that they cannot understand why God is doing these things to them.

(Jer 5:19) And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

These people were without understanding and had eyes of the heart and ears of the heart that could not see nor hear because they did not fear God nor chose to fear God.

(Jer 5:20) Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

(Jer 5:21) Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

(Jer 5:22) Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

(Jer 5:23) But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

(Jer 5:24) Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

God’s people were being ruled by the priests by their means instead by following the leading of the LORD and the prophets were prophesying falsely and God’s people loved to have it that way.

(Jer 5:30) A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

(Jer 5:31) The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Daniel 3:

Forcing godly people to worship a false god brings opportunity to prove our whole-hearted love for God and to glorify He who is truly the one true Almighty God and bring multitudes into conversion to Jesus Christ.

Acts 17:

Paul ministered where the platforms were available to minister which was in the synagogues and in the market place. When persecution arose in those places he fled ahead of his capture in order to be free to continue to minister elsewhere. He also encountered the curious that gave him a large platform to preach the gospel at Areopgagus forum. He also used the things that were relevant to them as a springboard from which to bring in the message of the gospel to them. I also will seek for open doors that the gospel may be preached with a large net to catch as many as possible from destruction into the kingdom of God.

Luke 12:

  1. Hypocrisy has a very leavening influence and is because of not being honest and transparent before God that finds it root self grasping fear due to the failure to fear God. When we genuinely fear God we become totally honest and transparent before God which brings us to the place of true humility in the recognition of our helplessness and guilt apart from the mercy of God. Thus we reciprocate out of the reception of the mercy of God the love of God and grow in a strong identity with God that is dead to identity with this world in relation to self. This makes one fearless to boldly confess Jesus Christ before the world in the face of persecution and death itself. 1-12
  2. If we seek to feed our own securities and comforts of self with our labor and time instead of seeking the kingdom of God 1st above these things we will be judged by God with the hypocrites and unbelievers. 13-21
  3. We are to be living our life as if the Lord will return at any moment because the Lord will return when we do not expect him to return if we are living otherwise. 22-53
  4. If we are watching and ready for the Lord’s return we will discern the time that we are living in so that we are about those things for the kingdom of God and will judge and discern those things that are right before God so that there is no grounds and judgment in us to cast us in the captivity away from the presence of God. 54-59
