  1. The Centurion had the right heart reception towards God that brings the heart response of faith that then results in the right choices out of the heart which is wisdom, that is the most constructive application of truth. This then in turn leads towards life and thus away from what is destructive unto every greater good. Genuine faith always comes out of the genuine fear of God which reverences the holiness and authority of God and would not be a genuine moral persuasion of faith towards God and out of God without this genuine fear of God. When you really love someone they are exceedingly precious and therefore you response rightly for there highest good and the highest good of your relationship with them. 1-10
  2. The city Nain means both affliction and beauty. This woman lost all and the most precious in her Son but received her Son from the dead because she stood still in order to receive the compassion and mercy of God. Let us remember to hold back our own self initiations through panic and grasping for the self securities of this life no matter how precious by being still out of choosing to fear and reverence God. This is clear in (Eccl 5:1) Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.(Eccl 5:2) Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. It is also clear in (Isa 30:7) For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still. 11-18
  3. Those that are not offended towards the actions and judgments of God are those that have rightly perceived God out of the fear of God and therefore have rightly responded to God and out of God in right choices in judgment towards others which is wisdom. Thus wisdom is indeed revealed as wisdom in God’s time by those that are the children of wisdom which are those that are born of God. 19-35
  4. In the woman we see the genuine fear of God towards God resulting in the right reciprocation towards God in genuine faith and in the Pharisee again wrong judgment because there is not this right relationship with God. 36-50

When the captivity of God’s people and their destruction is the most threatened by the wicked it is then that God will destroy the wicked and bring back the captivity of His people. The wicked end up becoming very fearful where there is no reason to be fearful because they chose not to believe in God nor to fear God.

Believers were “chosen” “before the foundation of the world” (cp. “before times eternal,” 2Ti 1:9), in Christ, Eph 1:4, to adoption, Eph 1:5; good works, Eph 2:10; conformity to Christ, Rom 8:29; salvation from the delusions of the Antichrist and the doom of the deluded, 2Th 2:13; eternal glory, Rom 9:23.

The source of their “election” is God’s grace, not human will, Eph 1:4-5; Rom 9:11; Rom 11:5. They are given by God the Father to Christ as the fruit of His death, all being foreknown and foreseen by God, Joh 17:6; Rom 8:29. While Christ’s death was sufficient for all men, and is effective in the case of the “elect,” yet men are treated as responsible, being capable of the will and power to choose. For the rendering “being chosen as firstfruits,” an alternative reading in 2Th 2:13, see FIRSTFRUITS. See CHOICE, B.

denotes “a picking out, selection” (Eng., “eclogue”), then, “that which is chosen;” in Act 9:15, said of the “choice” of God of Saul of Tarsus, the phrase is, lit., “a vessel of choice.” It is used four times in Romans; in Act 9:11, of Esau and Jacob, where the phrase “the purpose … according to election” is virtually equivalent to “the electing purpose;” in Act 11:5, the “remnant according to the election of grace” refers to believing Jews, saved from among the unbelieving nation; so in Act 11:7; in Act 11:28, “the election” may mean either the “act of choosing” or the “chosen” ones; the context, speaking of the fathers, points to the former, the choice of the nation according to the covenant of promise. The church is viewed as being in God as the Father and as the Son. The Father is always viewed as being in government beyond time and space as the originator and planner of the body of Christ and of us individually. Our election or choosing is of God before this world began and is evident by the reception and delivery of God’s word in the Spirit of God and power. There is such love for the church that the Apostle Paul and his co-workers are continually thanking God as they remember their work of faith, labor of love and patience of hope. God’s elect are waiting for God’s Son from heaven who has delivered us from the wrath to come.
