ROUGH NOTES

October 8, 2014 Wednesday

Galatians 3:
DEF: bewitched:
G940 βασκαίνωbaskaino (bas-kai’-no) v.

1. to malign

2. (by extension) to fascinate (by false representations)

Faith: DEF:

G4102 πίστιςpistis (pis’-tis) n.

1. persuasion, i.e. credence

2. (morally) conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher)

3. (especially) reliance upon Christ for salvation

4. (abstractly) constancy in such profession

5. (by extension) the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself

[from G3982]

KJV: assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity

NT VINES:
<1,,4102,pistis>

primarily, “firm persuasion,” a conviction based upon hearing (akin to peitho, “to persuade”), is used in the NT always of “faith in God or Christ, or things spiritual.”

Hearing: DEF:
G189 ἀκοήakoe (ak-o-ay’) n.

1. hearing

{the act, the sense or the thing heard}

[from G191]

KJV: audience, ear, fame, which ye heard, hearing, preached, report, rumor

Root(s): G191

NT Vines:
<A-1,Verb,191,akouo>
the usual word denoting “to hear,” is used (a) intransitively, e.g., Mat 11:15; Mar 4:23; (b) transitively when the object is expressed, sometimes in the accusative case, sometimes in the genitive. Thus in Act 9:7, “hearing the voice,” the noun “voice” is in the partitive genitive case [i.e., hearing (something) of], whereas in Act 22:9, “they heard not the voice,” the construction is with the accusative. This removes the idea of any contradiction. The former indicates a “hearing” of the sound, the latter indicates the meaning or message of the voice (this they did not hear). “The former denotes the sensational perception, the latter (the accusative case) the thing perceived” (Cremer). In Joh 5:25, Joh 5:28, the genitive case is used, indicating a “sensational perception” that the Lord’s voice is sounding; in Joh 3:8, of “hearing” the wind, the accusative is used, stressing “the thing perceived.”

That God “hears” prayer signifies that He answers prayer, e.g., Joh 9:31; 1Jo 5:14-15. Sometimes the verb is used with para (“from beside”), e.g., Joh 1:40, “one of the two which heard John speak,” lit., “heard from beside John,” suggesting that he stood beside him; in Joh 8:26, Joh 8:40, indicating the intimate fellowship of the Son with the Father; the same construction is used in Act 10:22; 2Ti 2:2, in the latter case, of the intimacy between Paul and Timothy. See HEARKEN.

  1. The deception of a relationship of fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit and then ending in the flesh happened when there is the failure receptivity by faith towards God by a deception to focus on what feeds self over God that brings hardness of heart towards hearing God. 1-5
  2. Those that are of faith are those that out of entering and abiding in the fear of God are birthed into a reciprocating relationship of faith by love towards God that as such obeys out of relationship with God rather than self initiated performance as the focus on self through the law to expect to please God. 6-29

      Genesis 22:12-18
      And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [Rom 8:32]; 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. 15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, 16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: Luke 1:73; Heb 6:13; [Ezek 16:8]; [Heb 6:14]; 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; Gen 24:60; [Gen 46:3]; [Neh 9:23]; [Heb 11:12]; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
